Acquisition and the AI Assistants channel
Acquisition reports answer "where do visitors come from?".
How traffic sources work (same as GA4)
Eureka follows the Google Analytics 4 model, so your existing UTM conventions keep working and the numbers line up with GA4:
- Campaign tags read from the URL:
utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign,utm_id,utm_term,utm_content,utm_source_platform,utm_creative_format,utm_marketing_tactic. Matomo (mtm_*,pk_*) and Piano (at_*,xtor) campaign parameters are read too when noutm_*is present. - Click IDs:
gclid,gbraid,wbraid(Google Ads auto-tagging →google / cpc),dclid,msclkid,fbclid,ttclid,li_fat_id,twclid,srsltid. - Without tags, source and medium follow GA4's conventions:
google / organicfor search engines,site.com / referralfor links,(direct) / (none)otherwise. A missing campaign shows(not set); untagged sessions show the campaigns(organic),(referral)or(direct). - Sessions end after 30 minutes of inactivity. As in GA4, a campaign change does not start a new session, and a session is not cut at midnight.
- Attribution: like GA4, session dimensions use the last non-direct click: a direct return visit keeps the previous non-direct source (within 90 days).
Dimensions you can use

| Session default channel group | Session | Channel of the session (last non-direct click) |

Channels
The Default channel group follows GA4's definitions, in GA4's order: Direct, Cross-network, Paid Shopping, Paid Search, Paid Social, Paid Video, Display, Paid Other, Organic Shopping, Organic Social, Organic Video, Organic Search, Referral, Email, Affiliates, SMS, Mobile Push Notifications, Audio.
Eureka adds one channel: AI Assistants, evaluated just before Referral. A session lands there when it arrives from an AI assistant (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Mistral, DeepSeek, Grok, Meta AI, Poe, You.com), detected from the referrer or from utm_source (ChatGPT adds utm_source=chatgpt.com to its links). An administrator can switch it off per property to get exactly GA4's grouping.
